I got my first DSLR when my second child was 6 months old (1st child was almost 2 years old.) Since then I have taken tens of thousands of pictures. I also began scrapbooking at this time. I must admit that I really didn’t have time for both of these new hobbies. However, I was totally hooked on preserving every possible memory for my children.
I have since upgraded my camera body and added another kid to the mix. This has added another 10,000 or so pictures. The question is, what do you do with all of these photographs? At a later time, I will dig deeper in to my photo organization techniques, as well as how I am able to keep a scrapbook for each kid and a photo album for each kid. But today I want to talk about displaying some of your AWESOME photographs. What is the best way to do this? The answer is: there is no best way. I used to think that 8×10’s were the way to go. Get a nice frame and throw an 8×10 in the armoire. This is the OLD way of thinking.
I have since decided that bigger is better. I think I may be obsessed with gallery wrapped canvases. When done correctly, they are gorgeous. And guess what? You don’t need a frame. For me this is a huge plus. As I mature, I am learning that I like things that are simple. Without the frame and mat you can easily move your canvases to different rooms in your home. You aren’t stuck because the color of the mat looks great in your family room but horrid in your living room. They are so versatile. This feeds right into my obsession for redecorating.
This is a 16×20 canvas currently displayed in my breakfast nook. Last week it was in the game room.

So, how do you like to display your photographs?

Love your canvas wrap! Heck-you could have gone even bigger than a 16×20!!
You are so right. You don’t realize that 16×20 really isn’t that big anymore. Thanks for the comment.
I love canvas wraps and yours looks wonderful! I like them for the same reasons…super versatile and simple.
Thank you so much!!!
Beautiful canvas! I’ve just started my big collection- so far I have a 20×30 canvas and a 16×20 float wrap. Love them!
Thank you! I need to do a 20×30 next. I bet it’s gorgeous.
Great post!! Bigger is always better!! LOL! I love the shot of your son in the canvas! Beautiful!
Thanks for the comment. I am going to go bigger next time, for sure!
You are so right. Bigger is better. I used to think 16×20 was big but not any more. Great post.
I was so surprised when I opened the box. I really thought it would look bigger.
Love that canvas!! My next one will actually be a 24×36 above my couch! =)
Oh wow, I bet a 24 x 36 over couch will be stunning! Thanks for the comment.
You are so right, gallery wraps are beautiful and a wonderful way to display your cherished memories! I am working on setting up a session with my daughters very soon with the goal of creating some new canvases for my home. Another option that I love a lot are gallery mounts. Gallery mounts do not require a frame either and are quite gorgeous. I am planning to create a couple of those for my girls’ bedroom. Great post – and I agree about how mattes can look odd in other rooms due to the colors – a situation I have found myself in many times over the years.
Thank you for the gallery mount idea. I am off to look into those.
cant beat a float wrap! I LOVE them!
Sometimes I wish I had more wall space *lol*
Ha Ha! You are so right. I need more wall space
LOVE Canvas Wraps! I agree with you they are the way to go and I have several!
Thank you for the comment! I am so jealous that you have several
Love the canvas!! Gorgeous!
Thank you!
